Over the past two weeks I’ve been sharing the current skincare products I own from the cleansers I own to toners!
Today it will be all about moisturizers.
The very first exposure that I have in terms of moisturizer is when I suffered acne. The best moisturizer should do more than just hydration. It should repair the dull skin, give sun protection and even at night (if you are fond of day and night skincare routine) can provide moisture and nourishment.
How to Choose Your Moisturizer
Some people find it hard to choose the right moisturizer while others like me can go from product to product and don’t have any allergic reaction. The best way to choose a moisturizer is to consider the following:
- Price. I am always a look out for the price so if the product is too pricey I don’t really buy it. I always follow my budget when it comes to products.
- Smell. Since this can be the last item in your skincare product you might want to choose a moisturizer that has no weird smell. For me if the product smells unpleasant for my liking then I don’t buy it at all.
- Irritation. If the store has tester then try putting some of the product at the back of your hand. Wait for some minutes to know if the product has contents that may irritate you.
- The Feel. You might also want to consider when you will put the moisturizer so that you can choose for the right feel of the product. Heavy moisturizers are best used at night while a lighter moisturizer with SPF content can help you during the day.
When To Use Moisturizer?
I use moisturizer twice a day, one in the morning and one at night. Sometimes I get lazy at night really skip it. My best tip is to put the product on your freshly washed face or after toner, just make sure that the surface is a little wet first. Why?!
Look at how sponges are, if a sponge is dry the cream or liquid foundation may find it hard to get into the sponge meanwhile if the sponge is wet, it gets absorbed easily.
My Current Moisturizers
Compared to the cleansers or toners I have, I don’t really own that much moisturizers. The ones I am using at the moment are in big tubs so I want to empty them first before trying out other moisturizers.St. Ives Facial Moisturizer Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin
St. Ives Facial Moisturizer Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin is an anti-aging moisturizer that targets wrinkles. It claims to nourish and hydrates skin; formulated with collagen elastin proteins and safflower seed oil that minimizes the look of fine lines and wrinkles.
Also promises to leave the skin looking visibly softer and smoother after use and is dermatologically-tested.
What I first notice upon application of this moisturizer is how good the smell is. It’s so addicting and definitely one of the reason why I love using this moisturizer in the morning. The product comes in a thick, creamy consistency that gets easily dissolved. You don’t need that much to be honest. It spreads well on the skin and I love how my skin drinks the product.

Nature Republic 99% Aloe Vera Gel
Ever since discovering aloe vera gels in 2015, I haven’t stopped incorporating them in my skincare routine. I used to finish tubs after tubs of Mumuso Aloe Vera Gel and even did a viral review about it.When I found out that Mumuso is a Chinese brand masking itself as a Korean brand, I opted to invest in the original Nature Republic 99% Aloe Vera Gel instead. Don’t get me wrong, I experienced no problem in the months that I’ve used the Mumuso 92% Aloe Vera Gel. But to stay away from patronizing imitations, I chose to buy the Nature Republic brand.
Aloe Vera, in generally used as remedy for skin problems like burns, psoriasis and dryness. It is also good for acne-prone skin because it speeds up the healing of the bumps. Aloe vera is even used as ingredient on soaps, lotions, creams and other skincare products.
What I like most about aloe vera gel as moisturizer is that it smells like real aloe and gives a fresh and cooling effect when applied. I’ve enjoyed splattering the product all over my face as it is quickly absorbed and give me supple skin when I wake up.
