2020 Bullet Journal Setup

Today I will be sharing my 2020 Bullet Journal Setup

Same as last year, the set up I decided to do this 2020 is minimalist. I focused on layouts that worked for me in the past. I also added some layouts I saw online that looks great and cohesive to the minimalist theme I planned.

Bullet Journaling has been a big part of my life for years now and I truly enjoy using the system in combating my day-to-day life and work.

One of the best items I bought when I was in Malaysia was Ryder Carroll’s The Bullet Journal System. I read that book and enjoyed all the insights Ryder shared when it comes to productivity and our to-do lists.

For 2020, I only have one notebook for everything. I am also using the remaining pages of my Leuchtturm 1917 notebook instead of buying a new one. Here are my 2020 bullet journal spreads:

2020 Cover Page

Since I am using the same notebook, I knew having a Cover Page will be beneficial. This is important  to separate the pages from 2019 to the new pages I will be using for the current. For the cover page I used an old sticker paper I have and just simply wrote 2020.

I added another sticker with my Word of the Year which is G-R-O-W-T-H.

Last year, I came up with a theme instead of a word. I mentioned “The Year of Doing” as my intentions. Based on my 2019 Year End Review, I surely didn’t do well in my mantra.

I had a major change in career, shifting from a back-end support to front-end support. I wasn't performing at my best especially in my habits and routines. I had a lot of missing-in-action moments in the blog, I skipped weeks even months without a new post. Although I have systems in place, I lack the will to do it.

Now that I already know what my schedule looks like, I feel much more at ease that I can perform better this year. I have ground rules, changed previous habits of wake up time, commute time and more just to adjust to a better work-life balance.

And so, the word resonated with me the best was “GROWTH”.

This is more than just numbers for me. I like to see growth in terms of quality as well. The quality of my prayer, my bible study, my relationship with my family, friends and colleagues and more.

I am so excited about what 2020 is about to come.

2020 Year at a Glance

I really love how I set up my 2020 Year at a Glance or also known as Future Log this year. For this year’s set up I have a mini calendar at the top and decided to divide the lower section into three:

  • Events/holidays of the month,
  • To-do Lists/Goals for the month, and
  • Any financial deadlines

For the to-do lists/goals for the month part I will be writing what I want to accomplish in areas of my life namely - spiritual, physical, career (blog and work), mental, and personal.

Grid Cheat Sheet

I’ve been seeing this Grid Cheat Sheet page for years now but only decided to adopt one for my 2020 bullet journal. The Grid Cheat Sheet is pretty simple. It is a simple guide to help you space rows and columns evenly in your Leuchtturm1917 A5 bullet journal.

Menstrual Tracker

A new layout I’m adding for my 2020 bullet journal set up is a Menstrual Tracker.

I saw this randomly on the internet and thought it would be a nice addition to my set up for self-care purposes. I wanted to be more familiar with my own body and see how it affects my mood and decisions as well.

For this layout, I just wrote down the 12 months of the year with the different days. Then, when I do have my menstruation I plan to highlight the days it begins until it ends.

2020 Goals

Next I have a full spread for my 2020 goals. For this year, I decided to divide my goals into different areas - personal, finance, spiritual, work, fun/bucket list, physical/health, blog/business and habits.

I am a firm believer in writing goals and I feel like having this page where I can turn to every now and then will be helpful for me.

2020 Books To Read

For my 2020 Books To Read layout I made a tracker to record how many pages I read, dates I read them plus a visualization when I finish reading them. I once did this layout in October 2019 and it quickly became one of my favorite layouts.

2020 Financial Trackers

I remember doing this Money Makeover spreads in 2017 and I love the results it brought. For this year I made is simple tracking only the biggest financial goals I have. I made a bar tracker to better see the progress.

Next, I made a table to record my total expenses of the month, credit card bills I have to pay, and sideline money I made. I think it’s important to see how these changes from month to month so I also have a better view of my spending habits.

2020 Life Verse

Last year, the life verse I wrote down on my bullet journal set up was “She believed she could so she did.” I believe the quote explains a lot for the theme of the year of doing.

For this year since my word is growth I found the perfect verse to capture it. What I wrote was “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you don't stop.” The quote was written by Confucius and it really exemplifies what I want to embody for 2020.

That’s it for this post.

How’s your bullet journal setup 2020?
