2020 Best of Skincare and Makeup

Hi everyone! Happy New Year and thank you for checking back again with my blog.

Today, I am finally publishing something that has become a yearly tradition here on the blog - The Year-End Best of Skincare and Makeup.

I remember doing it in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 and it’s fun to look back at what products made me the happiest. Those that I can call as my holy grails for the year. Items that I am glad I bought and tried.

This year’s post is definitely shorter as I wasn’t able to test out as many products as I did before. I didn’t even buy any new makeup items for 2020.

But all of these products helped me heal my skin and make it way, way better compared to how it looks at the start of 2020.

So, without further ado let’s begin.

Eskinol Spot-less White Facial Deep Cleanser With Pure Calamansi Extracts

First on the list is Eskinol’s Spotless White Facial Deep Cleanser with Pure Calamansi Extracts. My younger sister recommended the product to me and although I was hesitant at first, I saw how it healed her tiny bumps so I tried it.

And wow. It really works wonders.

The Pure Calamansi  doesn’t sting that much unlike the Pimple Fighting variant plus I feel like the condition of my face really improved after two weeks of continued use.

I lost count of how many bottles of Eskinol Spot-less White Facial Deep Cleanser with Pure Calamansi Extracts I have emptied for this year. It’s just the very product that made a difference on my face. It became more of a prerequisite to me before applying anything else on my skin after cleansing.

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

I purchased The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% because of the great reviews I’ve found online. This is the first ever The Ordinary product I purchased.

At first week I thought my skin was reacting differently because of the serum. I actually thought I bought a fake one because my face got red and I got these pustules around the cheeks. Thankfully, I found a video on YouTube about analyzing fake vs. authentic The Ordinary product.

To cut the story short, I got mine correctly and it was my face reacting to the product.

I stopped using it for three days and kind of got back to it afterwards. Now it’s working well for me. This helped fade away my pustules as well as the redness on my face.

After around two months of consistent use I finished the bottle. I still haven’t bought a new one but will surely get one soon.

Celeteque DermoScience Facial Moisturizer

The Celeteque DermoScience Facial Moisturizer is a cult favorite in the beauty community. It’s a classic favorite for me too. It has this hydrogel formula that is light and refreshing on the skin. I’ve been experiencing texture and dryness on my face and this is the only moisturizer that helps me.

Luxe Organix Miracle Cleanser AHA/BHA Deep Pore Cleansing & Brightening

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I adore the Luxe Organix Miracle Cleanser AHA/BHA Deep Pore Cleansing & Brightening as a facial cleanser.

I was supposed to get the AHA BHA Miracle Solutions Emulsion but since I already have the The Ordinary Niacinamid 10% + Zinc 1% I thought it would be redundant. At first use, I didn’t like the Luxe Organix AHA BHA Miracle Solutions Cleanser because I am more into foamy cleansers. But since it’s effective for me I continue using it.

It has the following ingredients that make it super effective:

Salicylic acid - Exfoliating BHA to clear acne-causing congestion from deep within the pores.

Lactic acid - Exfoliating AHA to lighten post-breakout scarring.

Glycolic acid - Gentle exfoliator that effectively removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells, revealing brighter, fresher skin.

Tea tree - Known for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It helps to calm redness, swelling and inflammation.

Niacinamide - Also known as Vitamin B3. It acts as an effective skin restoring ingredient that improves the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven skin tone and fine lines, leaving the skin bright and young looking.

We are all familiar with AHA/BHA products from COSRX, Some by Mi and Mizon. And they come for around Php 600 to Php 1000. The Luxe Organix Miracle Cleanser AHA/BHA Deep Pore Cleansing & Brightening comes way cheaper with almost the same effect.

Healthy Options Vitamins C plus Rosehips, A & D, and Collagen Complete

Of course I had to add on my best of beauty 2020 list the vitamins I bought from Healthy Options. Before the enhanced community quarantine happened, I was able to purchase important vitamins like Vitamin C, Vitamin A & D as well as Collagen Complete.

For the first time in my life I’ve been pretty diligent in taking my vitamins completely and I realized the difference it can make. I really love the Collagen Complete and will make it as a staple for my everyday vitamins.

Dove Ultimate White Deo Stick

This may be a random inclusion in the best of beauty list but I want to give this Dove Ultimate White Deo Stick a proper shout out because it’s what I’ve been using all year round as my deo. This doesn’t give me a sticky feeling when I use it and prevents odor. I love how it hydrates, soothes, and softens my underarm.

EB Advance Brow Define

The only makeup on my best of beauty list this year is the EB Advance Brow Define. I had this last year and kind of forgot that I have it but when we were tasked to report to work again, I used it again. I fell in love with this EB Advance Brow Define because of how easy it is to use. Brows will make you look put together and can be seen even if you are wearing a mask so it’s really important for me.
