Goodbye October, Hello November 2018

It's time to recap what happened for the month of October with side stories here and there plus things to look forward to in the coming month.

October 2018 was a blast. I had a great month filled with different events from church, family, work and friends. For the second time this year, I participated in the Prayer and Fasting Week at church. I also attended a leadership seminar, had dinner with Nica, participated in our annual sports event and did a hair and makeup gig at Fantasy World Lemery, Batangas.

Whew. Let’s begin.

Prayer and Fasting Week

For the second time this year, I participated in the Prayer and Fasting Week at church. It was the last for year 2018 and such a good way to end the year faithful for spiritual breakthroughs. I did a social media ban and one meal a day for three days straight from October 2 to 4. I also attended two out of three worship nights that week.

Gear Up Leadership Event

Another church activity I attended for October is the Gear Up Leadership Event. It was hosted by our church as a way for leaders and volunteers to gather and learn. There were two topics during the event.

First, was about true leadership as mentioned in Matthew. I learned wants us, His children, to lead. There is nothing wrong in having ambition, in aspiring to be number one but we need to learn to serve first.

Being a good leader means serving others instead of the other way around. You need to know what it is to serve others first.

Second topic was about our individual strengths. I learned that God created us with unique strength. Thus, we shouldn’t judge others abruptly. The key is to acknowledge not just our strength but also our weakness as individuals. It’s okay not to be okay in everything. This can happen because God blessed with set of skills that separate us from the rest.

Also during the event I met Marjorie once again. Marjorie or “Majo” as I fondly call her was a former college schoolmate of mine. I used to lead her on small groups in campus.

Today she is already a campus missionary serving at Victory Ortigas. Can’t help but feel amazed by God’s faithfulness in the life of Majo. Her obedience is truly inspiring.

Dinner with Nica

Right after the Gear Up event I went for a dinner date with Nica. We had dinner at Banapple Ayala Triangle, something we already did before. The dinner went smooth just updating each other about life and work. It was good seeing Nica again after months of not being together.

First Metro Sports Fest 2018

Another great activity I had for October was attending my second Sports Fest in the company!

This year I participated in the cheering competition which is a first for me since college. With only a week to prepare we manage to come up with a 6-minute routine. I miss dancing a lot and really had fun practicing with my colleagues.

Fortunately, we won the cheering competition event and provided the first 10 points for Blue Team. The rest of the afternoon was spent watching the other games such as Badminton, Volleyball and Basketball. There was also unlimited ice cream available with flavors like mango graham, avocado (my favorite) and coffee crumble!

I definitely enjoy Sports Fest better than the other company event like Summer Outing and Christmas Party. I love how physical and competitive we all become when it’s sports fest season.

Again looking forward for next year’s sports fest!

Fantasy World Lemery, Batangas

Before October ended I had a hair and makeup gig to my former classmate’s cousin. It was for her pre debut photoshoot shot in none other done Fantasy World at Lemery, Batangas.

Have you heard of Fantasy World? Well, it’s actually a supposed to be Disneyland created years ago but was abandoned due to conflict.

The place is sooooo good and it actually feels like you are in a different country. Almost every corner is Instagrammable. How I wish I have plenty of pictures taken but sadly it was a busy day. I promise myself to return to the place with my family probably next year.

Here’s a video instead of what’s inside for reference.

Things I'm Looking Forward Next Month

My Birthday

Definitely something to look forward will be my birthday. And this year is a big one since I'll be spending it on El Nido, Palawan.

I can't wait to share to you the highlights of this trip in a usual travel diary.

Here are my previous travel diaries >> Seoul, Eastern Samar and Baguio.

Malaysia!

Yep. I'm going to Malaysia in November. The trip is actually for my eldest sister who will be joining a marathon in Penang.

She asked me if I would be happy to join her and I said yes. I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS TRIP. And with my artsy sister with me I know I'll have some great photos to share to you for sure.

That's it for my October.
