On one fine stroll at the department store, I saw the newest Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink collection. I was surprised with the shades available and got curious because the packaging is super nice too! I think even if you don’t plan to buy a new lipstick, as soon as you see these you’ll definitely want to try and get one.
Today I’ll share with you my thoughts on the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink in Ruler which I’ve been using for weeks now.
Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink in Ruler
The Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink in Ruler is part of the Superstay Matte collection of Maybelline. It claims to be a long-lasting matte liquid lipstick that in your lips up to 16-hour saturated liquid matte. The product features an arrow applicator for precise application and currently available in around 15 different shades.

My Experience
You all know how obsessed I got when it comes to liquid matte lipsticks. I really thought I got over the whole liquid lipstick trend already but I fell in love at first swatch (and swipe) with this newest product from Maybelline. I always go for nude or coral shades but this time I told myself it’s time for some change. I picked up Ruler as it is the most flattering red shade I have ever tried.
The staying power of this lip color is so good. I use this at work and I never have to reapply it. It’s like a tattoo that sticks even as I’m back at home.
Because it stays really well on the lips removing it can be a bit bothersome too. I find the Garnier Micellar Water to be the best ever in removing the said lip stain. What I do is soak the cotton in micellar water and rest it first on my lips to melt the product off. I find this to be the best way to remove the stain.
HOW I APPLY. What I like most about the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink is how pigmented the product is. One swipe is all you need to cover the entire lips. I just take it straight to my lips and apply.
SWATCH. Here's a swatch of the product on my hand. As you can see, the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink in Ruler is super opaque. You will really see how intense the color payoff is. It also dries fast which is something I personally look for in a matte liquid lipstick.
The arrow applicator is actually nice too. I like how the pointy side is able to touch on the corners of the mouth without mess.
What I Love About the Product?
- Super pigmented
- Kissproof, transfer proof and smudge proof
- Lasts really long. In my experience it can stay up to 8 long hours without retouch which is rare for liquid lipsticks nowadays.
- The shade Ruler is such a forgiving red shade for morenas. It will definitely bring out your natural beauty.
- Reasonable price
What I Don't Like
- There's no con I can point with this Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick. It is really good.
Overall
If you are looking for an affordable but good quality liquid lipstick, I would highly recommend this Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink. For Php 249 per piece you will surely start collecting all the shades. I am thankful I stumble upon this liquid lipstick and can't wait to buy more. This still belongs to my Php 250 and below makeup list!
