The Best Mascaras I’ve Tried So Far

best-mascara

Today I thought of sharing with you the best mascaras I’ve tried so far.

I never really see myself as a mascara girl. I can manage an everyday makeup look even without it. But, when there are special occasions like company parties or hosting events, I will always use mascara.

Mascaras just make a huge difference to a typical look. It can lengthen, thicken, darken, and intensify your natural eyelashes. It draws attention to the eyes and as we all know, eyes are the windows to the soul.

Over the years that I’ve been into makeup, I’ve bought, loved and let go of a number of products. But here are the best mascaras that I enjoyed using for my lashes. Each mascara has its strength. So, let’s begin!

Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara Waterproof

I consider this Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara as the very first mascara I’ve ever used. I lost count of how many times I bought this mascara. It’s just the most reliable and budget-friendly mascara available today.

For someone like me who can only spare Php 200 on a makeup item back then, this was everything! It curls the lashes well, it lengthens and it adds volume. The best part of it all is that it is waterproof.

A perfect tool for those who want spidery lashes. Tapos habang tumatagal, lalo pa siyang gumaganda. It doesn’t create panda eyes on me and stays long enough even with one application.

I’ve written a number of posts featuring this Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara you can read here - My Mascara Collection 2015 | Best of 2016 - Eyes | Best Makeup Below Php 250

Price - Php 199

Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara

Back in the early years of this blog I discovered Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara. I learned about it because of Youtubers like Say Artillero and Shebby Liquete who used to rave about this product before.

From my experience I can pretty much say that it is a really good affordable local mascara that I can recommend as well.

What makes the Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara is the applicator. It is one of the most unique mascara applicators I’ve ever had. The thin bristles are evenly spaced out so that it gets to the lashes quick and even. The applicator is also soft and can bend so you have full control when it comes to application.

It is true to its claim and you’ll instantly notice your eyelashes lengthen. It also gives a natural looking mascara makeup not the clumpy one so you can use it on a daily basis.

Price - Php 225

Missha The Style 4D Mascara

I actually got this mascara as a free item on my very first Althea Korea haul. Then I got it again as a CHARIS freebie. Because I got it as a free item I didn’t really expect that much for it. But lo’ and behold, this product became a real must-have for me.

This gives length to the lashes that aren't overpowering. If you hate clumpy looking lashes then this product will work well for you. Unlike other mascaras where I stop on second application because it can already get clumpy, with the Missha The Style 4D mascara I can build the product again and again and again.

It doesn’t give the curl like what the Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara does but for the lengthening and volume, this is so great.

I recommend buying in Althea Korea because the price of the Missha 4D Mascara is just Php 120.

Benefit They’re Real Lash Mascara

I had the privilege to own a free travel size of Benefit's They're Real Lash Mascara during a blog event I attended years ago and I will never forget its effect on me.

Like many beauty enthusiasts I fell in love by how it can easily transform my thin lashes. This mascara totally lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts, separates my lashes. If you are a big fan of spidery lashes, you will fall in love with They're Real Lash Mascara.

The design of the brush gives optimum volume. One coat of this mascara gives me the amazing length and volume that I needed. It separates the lashes very nicely and it is super black so it really makes a big difference prior to the application.

I seldom use this on the bottom of my lashes because it easily smudges. But for the upper lashes, this lasts pretty long.

The only problem I have with the Benefit They’re Real Lash Mascara is the fact that it is on the high-end side. It costs Php 860 for a mini-size and almost twice the amount for the full size. I ain’t gonna spend that much for mascara.

Heroine Make Long and Curl Mascara

Another product that I’ve always wanted to try ever since I’ve seen reviews about it online is the Heroine Make Long and Curl Mascara.

I bought this product during my 6days, 5nights trip in Taiwan and used it a couple of times for special occasions like our Christmas Party in the office. I swear it is the most effective mascara ever if you want to make your lashes look longer and in position the whole night (or time).

Here are some of the reasons why it had a huge following through the years. One, the Heroine Make Long and Curl Mascara is super black. The jet black black that will give so much emphasis on your eyes when worn.

Another reason why it’s great is because it is extra long lasting. Even though I removed it already before I go to bed, the next morning it still seems like I have mascara on. Lastly, this is soooo comfortable to wear on the eyes. It doesn’t feel heavy on the lashes when worn.

Price - Php 880 full size

Overall

Above all the mascaras above I do have a soft spot for Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara. It’s a ride or die type of makeup product for me. Considering the price and effectiveness it is as a mascara, this one is the best of the best. But, if you have extra budget I highly suggest the Heroine Make Long and Curl Mascara as well.
