Goodbye May, Hello June 2020

It's time to recap what happened for the month of May 2020 with side stories here and there plus things to look forward to in the coming month.

Am I the only one who felt that May flew by too quickly?

To date I’ve been reporting on a work-from-home basis since March 16, 2020. That’s almost two and a half months of drastic change.
And it’s finally starting to feel like the “new normal” normal if I may say.

I spent most of May building good habits and staying as productive as I can. I’ve been keeping five life habits since the quarantine began and I’m thankful for every opportunity I get to do them.

Here’s January 2020, February 2020, March 2020 and April 2020 in case you missed them.

Zoom Meetings with Family and Friends

Another way I’ve spent the month of May is doing Zoom meetings to family and friends. Just grateful that in the midst of this social distancing, there’s still a technology like Zoom we can all use.

First, I participated in a mini-reunion with my college classmates and it was such a great moment. We catch up on each other and talk about past stories as well as updates in our life. I have those I haven't seen since graduation day 7 years ago. It felt so good that we can laugh at jokes and stories from the past like they just took place yesterday.

Of course, the family Zoom meetings are still on and going strong. It’s now our only means of communication as a family aside from Messenger.

Another fun Zoom meeting I had was the ECQ Game Night with my team-mates at work. After catching up with each other we screen share a timer and each of us have to name as many items from a given category. It's a great way to bond or be interactive even though you are miles away from each other.

Cooking!!!

May has been fun too because I get to cook more. I’ve been cooking some of my cravings lately from Korean Army Stew, Banana Fritters or Maruya to Beef Kebab. I mentioned long before how I’ve been preparing more food for the family and it’s something I still have a great time doing.

Here are photos of my Korean Army Stew or Budae Jjigae and Beef Kebab. For the Beef Kebab I also made a mayo garlic sauce as a dip, the same as what you get when you go to Meditterenian restaurants.

More Blogging

Finally, I hit a two-digit mark when it comes to the number of posts I make here on this blog. I’ve been really ace the blog schedule I set of new posts every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I used to post even on Sunday before but it felt unrealistic anymore knowing the things I’ve been launching over at SavingsPinay.ph.

If you’re curious how I find time to consistently blog with a full time job, you may want to read these two posts - My Blogging Essentials and How to Plan Your Blog Content in Advance

Here are the posts I made in May 2020:

May 2020 Favorites

Beauty - I don’t have any beauty favorites to share this month as I’m just using the same products from the past months. However, I’ve been thinking about shopping online for my essentials pretty soon. I want to restock on my skincare items since I’ve been out with so many items for so long. I’ll share a haul in case I really do it.

Movie or Show - For May 2020, I rekindled my love for Running Man, a Korean variety show I’ve been obsessed with for years. I saw Episode 503 with Jessi and I was laughing the whole episode up to the last mark! After that I just went watching the rest of the 2020 episodes every now and then.

I also finished watching The Last Dance, a documentary which follows the Bulls' 1997-98 season from start to finish, while also covering Michael Jordan's remarkable career. It was sooooo good. What a story telling. I don’t know much about basketball and am not sporty as well but it was so good of a documentary. I finished the whole 10 episodes in just two days of non-stop watching. Haha.

Currently, I’ve been watching Snowpiercer, the series version. Netflix updates new episodes on a weekly basis and have now been waiting for episode 3.

Song - It wasn’t until May 2020 that I discovered Lewis Capaldi, the man behind the ever so successful song Someone You Loved. I love Someone You Loved and the lyrics speak volume in my heart but my actual favorites are his three other songs - Bruises, Before You Go and Grace. I’ve been listening to his song non-stop. Such a unique voice plus the lyrics is really good.

Looking Forward Next Month

How I wish I can say that finally I’ll be back to work at site or in the office with Metro Manila already under General Community Quarantine. But, that’s not the case. We will still be operating on a work-from-home basis until further notice.

Part of me is happy and relieved (and privileged as well) that my company thinks of our safety the most during this time of pandemic. But, there’s also a part of me that longs for the “past normal” to come back. For those days when you can go anywhere you want without worry.

Who would have thought this will go on this long? More prayers for healing and safety for everyone.

Thank you for reading.
