Glow Up Routine Ideas in Time of Coronavirus

Hey everyone!

The current coronavirus situation puts all of what seems to be normal in our life on a pause. We are actually living right now in the unknown, without any hint of when it will all go back to what it used to be.

Self-isolation and the whole social distancing is HARD. But, for now it is what’s going to help humanity flatten the curve of COVID-19 pandemic.

And it's okay to feel sad, afraid and longing especially with the uncertainty and negativity happening around us right now.

But, we can’t let the current situation rob us of our tomorrow.

We all have to move forward.

And so today I thought of sharing a glow routine one can do in time of coronavirus pandemic. Let’s shift our focus on self-care, especially now that we do have all the time to do what we’ve been putting off because our excuse has always been “I don’t have time”.

It’s time to reset and glow up so we can get a lot happier, healthier and less stressed-out. Here are some ideas to glow up routine ideas in time of coronavirus.

After this glow up, assuming you’ve done it diligently for the next two weeks, you will:
  • Feel happier and healthier
  • Look better and blooming
  • Build new healthy habits for life

Let’s begin.

AM and PM Skincare Routine

Maintaining a so-called skincare routine may seem like a daunting task. There’s so much step involved not to mention money. But it’s still an ideal way to glow up during self-isolation.

I have a number of posts about skincare routine you can check out:

Try to take a look at your current vanity and see your tried and tested beauty products and build your own glow up skincare routine. Commit to doing it for a week and see if you’ll notice any difference from before. Continue on the routine until your face glows from every side.

Other effective additions on your skincare routine are as follows:
  • Face Mask
  • Face Serum
  • Exfoliator
  • Face Oil

Be makeup-free

As everyone is primarily working-from-home, you can actually let your skin breathe and go makeup-free.

Makeup can get into one’s pores trapping bacteria and sweat which then causes pimples, blackheads and other impurities. The more you wear makeup and not do proper cleansing before you sleep, the more you’ll experience texture on the face.

That’s why it is important to try and be makeup free as much as you can during this quarantine season.

Workout

For sure you’ve seen this coming but it’s true. When I started exercising almost on a daily basis, I felt so happy on the inside.

Start doing a few short workouts whenever you can. Select a part of your body you want to focus on - arms? Legs? Abs? Butt? Then go to Instagram and just type that on the search box. You’ll be surprised with how many easy workouts are available on Instagram today.

You can also do a quick High Intensity Interval Training which basically is a whole body cardio. The purpose of this workout routine is to make you sweat and burn as much fat as possible. This exercise includes High Knees, Jump Squat, Jumping Jacks, Lunges, Burpees and the like.

When you start your day with some movement not only will you feel more awake, you’ll also feel good inside. Trust me -- it will look like you’ve accomplished the biggest task of the day and that you can do any task that will go on your way.

Drink water or Stay Hydrated

Did you know that drinking a lot of water is helpful to keep yourself happy and healthy at the same time?

I’ve never been such hardcore when it comes to drinking water now that I’m staying at home, I found myself finally on a habit of staying hydrated. It’s an amazing feeling when you drink water. It doesn’t only quench your thirst, it also helps make your skin clearer, flush out toxins from the body better and make you lose weight faster.

Want to be extra? Try Lemon Water in the morning. Just place a couple of lemon pieces on your water and drink it. Aside from added flavor on your water, lemon is also a good source of Vitamin C, an antioxidant we badly need right now.

Work on Your Mental Health

I believe another form of glow up one can do in this time of coronavirus is to take time out of your day and look after your mental wellbeing. We all need to be kind to ourselves more than ever. Find key people, from family and friends you can reconnect or connect with to talk to about your thoughts and feelings.

Find activities that will give you a sense of fulfillment and enjoyment even though we are all locked up. Whether it be attending online classes, mastering a new language or simply reading books. Engage in activities that make you happy.

Don’t forget to stay in the present moment. Get rid of the thoughts that are clogging your brain with worry and fear. Focus on the here and now.

Get more sleep

I think this is the area I struggle the most lately. Ever since the work-from-home situation began, my sleeping time has been on the rocks. Thankfully, my wake up time stays the same no matter how late I sleep. I am also spending lunch hours taking a power nap since our lunch time at work is an hour and a half.

Getting more sleep will help you glow up. It helps in keeping your stress level balanced, your mood great and immune system strong.

The current work-from-home situation is very rare so maximize this moment to get more sleep you deserve.

Overall

As you may notice I’ve been sharing a lot of quarantine-related posts lately on the blog. The main reason for this is because, just like you, I aim to maximize the newfound time to better myself out.

Whether you want to use this time to slow down or get productive is up to you. Just take care of yourself physically, emotionally and mentally. It is my hope that after all of this, we will all come out feeling more beautiful and more confident than before.
